OK, now you've done it. "Next weekend" has passed and so has the weekend after that and... The paper is due tomorrow and you haven't even begun. The teacher is really hard on late assignments and you really don't have a good excuse. What ARE you going to do?
I start writing. I don't have access to the library at this time of night, so I'm just going to have to use Google for all of my research and write as I go. I don't drink coffee, but now is the time to start. It's going to be a long night.

This is an awful situation, but not one that is unfamiliar. We've dealt with students in this boat before, or been there ourselves. The focus is entirely on the mark at the end of the assignment. How that mark is achieved is of secondary importance and risks are often taken to try and get some less than legitimate effort through. The only learning that is going on here is about ways of jumping through hoops and perhaps ways of circumventing the system.
